Lumentum OCS R300

Corespan Systems Expands Optical Interoperability with Support for Lumentum R300 Optical Circuit Switch

Corespan Team

Corespan Systems is pleased to mark another milestone in our journey toward truly composable, photonic-native AI infrastructure with support for the Lumentum R300 optical circuit switch (OCS). As our customers push into larger, more dynamic GPU fabrics, they need interoperability, open standards, and the freedom to choose the best optical platforms for their environment. With this integration, we are extending our disaggregated AI fabric to include gNMI-based control of Lumentum’s OCS technology, reinforcing our commitment to an open, multi-vendor ecosystem that scales with our customers’ ambitions.

Interoperability and open standards are foundational to how Corespan approaches composable AI infrastructure,” said Simon McCormack, Vice President of Product Management at Corespan Systems. “Support for Lumentum’s R300 OCS expands our optical ecosystem and gives customers greater choice while maintaining consistent control plane integration across their AI fabric.

Corespan Systems today announced support for the Lumentum R300 MEMS Optical Circuit Switch (OCS) within its disaggregated AI fabric architecture, including full integration through the gNMI protocol for management and telemetry. This capability extends Corespan’s composable PCIe and optical networking platform, giving customers expanded flexibility when deploying large-scale AI and high-performance computing environments.

“As we ramp our industry leading R300 OCS, Lumentum is committed to the development of open standards and active industry collaboration to support the rapid and efficient deployment of AI infrastructure worldwide,” said Peter Roorda, General Manager, Switching at Lumentum. “Open ecosystems drive innovation, interoperability, and long-term value for customers, and we support Corespan in bringing stakeholders together to accelerate progress across the AI infrastructure landscape.”

Customer-Driven Interoperability

The addition of Lumentum support is directly driven by customer demand. Several prospective customers have requested interoperability between Corespan’s composable infrastructure platform and Lumentum’s optical switching systems. This alignment ensures customers can integrate seamlessly within their existing procurement standards and optical infrastructure strategies.

Multi-Vendor Optical Ecosystem

Corespan’s architecture is designed around openness and flexibility. Supporting Lumentum further expands the company’s multi-vendor optical ecosystem, reinforcing a vendor-neutral approach that maximizes customer choice and integration flexibility across diverse network and hardware environments.

Alignment with OCP OCS Standards

As an active participant in the Open Compute Project’s Optical Circuit Switch (OCS) Working Group, Corespan contributes to the development of emerging configuration models and open APIs. By aligning with Lumentum’s OCS architecture and gNMI-based control framework, Corespan ensures full compliance with the evolving OCP standards that define the next generation of open optical infrastructure.

Scalable Optical Fabric Integration

The Lumentum R300 (300×300) optical circuit switch integrates cleanly into Corespan’s composable PCIe and optical fabric, supporting dynamic topology reconfiguration and rack-scale interconnect for disaggregated AI systems. This enables high-radix, low-latency optical fabrics optimized for next-generation GPU, CPU, and accelerator clusters.

Future-Ready Optical Infrastructure

As optical technologies play an increasingly central role in data center disaggregation and AI fabric scaling, Corespan’s support for multiple OCS vendors ensures customers can scale without architecture lock-in. This forward-looking interoperability positions Corespan’s customers to adopt optical switching as a foundation for flexible, high-bandwidth AI infrastructure.
